About thirty years ago I had a two-year adventure, a personal journey– on one paycheck with no plans–that didn’t just rock my world, it probably saved my life.
I intended to blog about it, but thought I should set up a new one since Skating Thru 2012 didn’t actually seem like a fitting place for it. SkatingThru2012 was about living joyously–no matter what–in a time when some people feared the end of life as we knew it because, well, you were there, right? No need to bring that up again. (But I might–in a book!)
So here’s the deal. When you’re 20, 30, 40, or even 50, you imagine you’ll live forever and can do all these different things. At some point, however, you get a glimpse of your mortality and start making better choices. That happened, finally, for me. If you were around a year ago, April 2015, you know what I’m talking about. That said, I’ll quickly add that I am in excellent health, and one of the few I know who isn’t on Rx drugs.
So what’s the problem?
No problem. In fact, like a kid lying on her back on the ground, giggling while her circle of friends covering her body with autumn leaves, suddenly there are so many things I want to do I’m having to check in frequently to be sure it’s what I really want.
And many of them are about writing–books!
I want to write the best books I can!
- I want to write books about that two-year adventure (doing it now as a series, expecting to publish the first one well before Christmas),
- books about kids with challenges and how they blast through them (Claiming Her Power will likely come out summer of next year),
- and some little non-fiction books to share the best of what I’ve learned as a Holistic Health Practitioner, massage therapist, Clinical Hypnotherapist, Alchemical Hypnotherapist, dance instructor, and spiritual seeker who has learned from myriad paths including Christianity, Tarot, I Ching, philosophers, metaphysics, and some indigenous folk.
As an Irish Setter, my desire for walks in the woods trumps my desire to blog after sitting all day writing a book. Choices…
So here’s the deal. If you want to keep up with an old hippie and her writing, if you want to participate in that process, even possibly to help me launch books, you can follow me on Twitter @DrPamYoung or my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/drpamyoung/.
I’ll no doubt come here for a while longer, mostly because it’s quiet, out-of-the-way, and gives me a chance to hear myself think. But it’s not fair to this little blog, Skating Thru 2012, to ask her to carry the load of a writer’s blog when she did so well for more than five years holding the space for ruminations about life, personal empowerment, mind, body, and spirit.
It’s also not fair to me.
Because I am following my life passion and spending long hours every day writing books, I cant imagine how I can also be writing a blog when I used to spend four to five hours writing this one and hours every week snapping photos.
In this present moment, choosing to walk my talk about manifesting and staying focused, choosing to spend my energy units wisely, I’m choosing books!
Thanks for listening! And don’t forget:
Be kind to everyone, for we all have our hidden sorrows.
