Choose Yourself!

A few days ago I shared this quote from Abraham (Esther Hicks) with friends:

You just cannot look at things that are wrong in the world, putting them in piles, labeling them, and then joining together in groups to push against them, without depriving yourself of the point of attraction that you must accomplish in order to let in all that you consider to be good. (Excerpted from her talk in Phoenix, AZ on 2/1/14)

People asked me, “Then what are we supposed to do?”  and I responded “Choose yourself instead.  Focus on what you want and let everyone else do the same.”

“Huh?”

“Let others live their lives how they want to instead of always trying to convince them to do it your way.  You enjoy making your own choices and living your life as you choose.  Can you allow others the same freedom?

“But they’re doing it wrong!” You say.  “They’re eating meat…they’re eating soy… they’re voting for the wrong candidate, wearing the wrong clothes, believing the wrong things…”

“But voicing your campaign against them is just as bad and it’s futile.  I know, because it’s what I’m working on now.”

“Why is it bad?”

“Because whatever is in your consciousness—expressed in beliefs, thoughts, words, and deeds—is a request for more of the same.  That means you’re choosing to experience more verbal wars about eating meat/soy/plants, more in-your-face political arguments, more exposure to those wrong clothes, and more battles about beliefs.

Whatever you see or hear outside of yourself is a mirror reflection of your beliefs, thoughts, words, and deeds—including your judgements—especially if you feel strongly about it.

We must choose:  focus on self or focus on others.”

_______

In my small town, pedestrians have an attitude.  They cross in front of moving cars on even the busiest streets.  They walk diagonally so it takes them longer to cross.  Texting on their phones or plugged into them with headphones, they walk against the light, never bothering to look for cars coming towards them.

It used to drive me crazy.  Now, I just “go along”, allowing them to make their choices and experience the consequences, just as I do, for these reasons:

  1. I cannot change them.
  2. Focusing on them fills my consciousness with unwanted “junk.”

And, it took me a while after the spectacular accident to realize what I wanted:

  1. Get my body back.
  2. Deal with property issues.
  3. Get ready to move.
  4. Consciously manifest what I want to experience.

That’s a tall order and it will require all of my consciousness.  I will focus on what I want and let others do the same.  It’s time to claim my personal power.

Is it time for you to claim yours?

As Abraham (Esther Hicks) says,

Most people think that they only have the option of responding to the circumstances that surround them. And that’s what makes them attempt the impossible, which is to control the circumstances around them, which only feeds their feeling of frustration and vulnerability because it doesn’t take very much life experience to discover you can’t control all of those circumstances. But you can control your vibration. And when you control your vibration, you’ve controlled everything that has anything to do with you.  ~Excerpted from El Paso, TX on 3/28/02.

Till next time,
