Junior High Author

Yesterday, while going through a box of papers, I stumbled across some things I had written in 1960 when I was in junior high.  It amused me and I decided to share them with you.

LOVE

Love is an emotion with strong feelings of different degrees or types.  Many associate only the romantic type with the word love, but they are overlooking the others.  There are really more degrees of this human emotion.

There is the love of a child for his parents and even then there maybe be a comparison.

There is the love of a man for his brother.

There is the love which similar to that is love for his parents.

Another type of love is that of a small boy for his dog, of a girl for her doll, or a woman for her first set of silverware.  All of these are closely related.

There is the kind shared by a boy and a girl.  The degree of love that never stops changing, that continues to grow and becomes more intense is found once by everyone.

Each of these loves is really a main constituent of a unit which is considered by all to be the greatest thing on earth:  Love.

YESTERDAY

As I lie on cool green moss,
Amidst the poignant flowers and clover
I think of all that I have lost
And all that I’d do over.

I ask myself of each little lie
Was there really a reason why?
And of the things I said I’d do
But never, ever did.

Tomorrow brings so many things
Some happy, hateful, and sad
We never know until they came
And then we’re often not glad.

Yet, even though they don’t seem right
We know that when it’s done.
If it were our choice to do it again
We’d do it just the same.

THOUGHTS

At night, when the long day is over
And I am left with all my thoughts
I remember each little incident
And how each one was brought.

I can tell you of all my pleasures
And all my grievances, too.
But my most important treasures
Are the thoughts of my true friends.
